Greetings!

Last week, we held our first Monterey Wine Club Virtual Tasting. Our guest vintners were Alix Bosch of De Tierra Vineyards and Jack Galante of Galante Vineyards. Moderators from A Taste of Monterey were Jasmine Hernandez, Scott Kuramura and Ken Rauh. The featured wines were De Tierra Merlot, Pierce Petite Sirah, Dawn's Dream Rose and Galante Petite Sirah. Please note, as we started, we had some difficulties which resulted in the first portion not being recorded. Also, please forgive us as this was our first time using the webinar software, a glass or three of wine should help get you through the rough patches.

Jack Galante (Proprietor @ Galante Vineyards)
Jack worked on the family’s cattle ranch every summer as a young man, and his interest in wine started while living in Europe at age 13. A geographer and environmental planner by education, Jack’s passion for, and dedication to preserving the land, manifests in his sustainable approach to his cattle ranch, vineyards, and winery. Jack is the creative mind behind Galante Vineyard's unique brand, and he oversees all aspects of the business, including keeping an eye on the winemaking process. Jack is as dedicated to his winery as he is to his family: his wife Dawn and their five children.

De Tierra is owned by Dan McDonnal and Alix Lynn Bosch. De Tierra creates delicious award-winning and hand harvested wines to share from the unique terroir of Monterey County. De Tierra, as the name suggests, focuses on providing the best representation “of the land”. Great wines begin in the vineyard, and it is their goal to translate the defining flavors of the terroir into great wine.
