Varietal Voyage - Malbec Pack

With a continued commitment to educating our customers and membership about the exciting and intriguing world of wine, A Taste of Monterey invites you to embark on a global excursion into understanding varietal wines.   Each quarter, a bottle pack of wine along with educational materials will be available.  The three bottles are specially selected to highlight and focus on a specific varietal grown in several places throughout the world. One wine will be a locally produced example, and the other two will be its international counterparts.  By focusing on a specific varietal each quarter, you truly get a sense of what that wine is all about, as knowledge of varietals is the foundation of wine education.

Malbec Now Departing

Thin-skinned, robust tannins, inky dark color, sun-loving and fragile to grow…which wine grape varietal are we talking about?  Malbec, or one could call it Côt or Côt Noir, as someone likely would refer to the grape if they were from the Cahors region of France.  But, isn’t Malbec one of the most popular red varietals from the famed Bordeaux region?  Or isn’t it an Argentine grape?
